It is easy to narrate India as friction. Permits. Fragmented markets. Messy logistics. Uneven trust. People who like sounding sophisticated turn that list into a reason to leave or a reason to wait. I used to do some version of that. Then a conversation with my father flipped the frame: the gaps are where demand lives, often before anyone has packaged a product around them. If something is broken at national scale, the buyer is often desperate for a working subsystem. Wind on highways. Hiring that does not drown in noise. Agents that finish work for companies that cannot hire another layer of ops. Personal intelligence that turns scattered judgment into something an organization can actually use. I am not romanticizing chaos. Broken systems are annoying. They are also where unpaid demand sits. Building from here also forces a useful constraint: you learn to sell into real procurement, real relationship networks, real cashflow timing. That is harder and more specific than optimizing a landing page for applause. When the same founder later talks to global capital, the scars read as operator detail, not tourist storytelling. I still want leverage that reaches past any one geography — energy, intelligence infrastructure, civilizational scale. Those ambitions do not shrink to a pin on a map. Starting where the surface is uneven is not a downgrade. It is a training ground for demand. If the system is incomplete, someone will complete a piece of it. I would rather that someone be me.
